Reduce Energy Costs and Energy Price Volatility
High electricity and natural gas prices have created severe energy budgeting
and planning difficulties for many commercial, government and institutional
utility customers in Texas.
This nontechnical workshop shows attendees how to evaluate financial
risk associated with energy efficiency and pricing choices with a risk management
process called Energy Budgets at Risk (EBaR)TM .
EBaR provides an evaluation of current energy price risks for each organization
and quantifies potential risks and energy cost savings of individual efficiency
and pricing options. Results from this process are matched to each organization's
budget flexibility and risk tolerance to develop an energy risk management
strategy that minimizes energy costs and protects against energy price
volatility."
Sponsors/Venues/Times
Workshops are part of the Texas A&M University College of Architecture
Continuing Education Program. Attendees receive CEU credits and a Texas
A&M Certificate of Workshop Completion.

Workshop Leader
Jerry Jackson, an energy economist, industry consultant and Texas A&M
professor leads this half-day workshop series. He has a Ph.D. in economics
and has consulted with more than 90 companies including 20 Fortune 500 companies.
He has worked with federal, state and local government agencies on a variety
of energy-related issues. Dr. Jackson is currently completing a book titled
"Energy Budgets at Risk (EBaR), A Risk Management Approach to Energy Purchase
and Efficiency Choices," scheduled for publication in early 2008.
Who Should Attend
Workshops are designed for a nontechnical audience. Easy-to-understand
descriptions of risk management principles are provided. Quantitative examples
and case studies are used to illustrate the EBaR process.
Building owners, managers and others responsible for electric and natural
gas budgets in commercial, industrial, government and institutional buildings
will gain sufficient knowledge to immediately begin developing energy risk
management strategies.
The workshop is also appropriate for executives who want to gain an understanding
of energy risk management principles.
